The Old Town Hall Tower at a glance
The tower of the Old Town Hall rises above Old Town Square next to the Astronomical Clock. The tower is 69.5 m high in total. The viewing gallery sits lower, at 42 m, so you look out from about 42 m above the square, not from the top of the spire.
The tower is open daily, with no regular rest day. The basic ticket covers the tower and the Knights' Hall, where a digital model of the clock is on show. A lift runs to the gallery for an extra fee. The tickets page has the full price table.

Opening hours of the Old Town Hall Tower
Regular hours, and the changed days around Christmas 2026.
| Period | Hours |
|---|---|
| January to March | Daily 10:00 to 19:00 |
| April to December | Daily 09:00 to 20:00 |
| 24 December 2026 | 09:00 to 15:00 |
| 25 December 2026 | 11:00 to 18:00 |
| 26 December 2026 | 09:00 to 20:00 |
| 31 December 2026 | 09:00 to 16:00 |
The closing time is when the building shuts, not the last time you can buy a ticket. Ask at the desk for the last admission, and do not arrive just before closing. The apostle show runs later than the tower, until 23:00, so a late show is no reason to expect the tower to be open. See the show times.

Our take: if you only want the view, this ticket covers the tower and nothing more.

Old Town tours and tower tickets
Walking tours and combination offers around the Old Town Hall, with live prices and availability. Check whether a listing includes entry to the tower, because it is not automatic.
What you see from the tower
From the gallery you look down on Old Town Square, the roofs of the Old Town and, in clear weather, across to Prague Castle. The viewing gallery is a good place to get your bearings before you walk. For the castle itself, see the Prague Castle guide.
The view is best in clear weather. Photos for private use without a tripod are generally fine.

Lift, stairs and access
The tower is reached from the Mikulášská side, and lifts and a platform serve it.
Lift prices
The lift is paid on top of the desk ticket: CZK 100 for adults, youths and children, CZK 50 for seniors, and free for children from 0 to 5.

The tower entrance has lifts and a platform. The historic interiors, such as the cellars on the inside tours, are not accessible. If you use an electric wheelchair, ask the operator before your visit.
Rules for bags and children
Under the visitor rules, strollers, bulky luggage, animals, food and open drinks have been excluded. Travel light, and ask at the desk if you are unsure. Children under 15 enter with an adult who is 18 or older.
Cheaper in the first hour
The first opening hour of the day is 50 percent off regular admission. Special openings and public holidays are excluded. A cheaper ticket does not mean a shorter queue.
How to fit the tower around the clock
Watch the show first and climb afterwards, or the other way around. The tower and the show are on separate schedules, and you do not need a ticket for the show. A simple plan that works for most visitors: arrive at the square a few minutes before a full hour, watch the apostles, then go in for the tower while the crowd thins out.
You can also turn it around: go up early in the day, then watch a show from the square on your way out. For the dials themselves, see how the clock works. For a wider look at the square, see Old Town Square.

The Knights' Hall and the digital model
The basic ticket includes the Knights' Hall. There an interactive digital model of the clock explains how the mechanism works. It is a model on a screen. It does not take you to the real clockwork, so do not buy a ticket expecting to see the mechanism itself.
If you are short on time
Buy the basic ticket in the first opening hour of the day, when regular admission is 50 percent off, go up to the gallery, and watch the next show from the square afterwards. If you want the cellars as well, the underground page explains what the inside tours add.
