Prague Old Town tours with the clock at a glance
You can watch the clock from Old Town Square without any ticket. Tours are for what is behind it. They fall into three groups: guided routes inside the Old Town Hall, a private guide for your own group, and walks through the Old Town run by tour operators.
The basic hall ticket is not a guided tour. It covers the tower and the Knights' Hall. The historic rooms are visited only with a guide and for an extra fee. Keep that difference in mind when you compare prices.

Our picks: astronomical clock tours
Our take: the three-hour tour includes the tower. The castle walk goes on over Charles Bridge, and the small-group walk adds the Jewish Quarter.

Guided tour of the Old Town Hall
Two routes run on fixed dates. Both are add-ons to the basic ticket.
Route A: chapel, state rooms and basement
This route goes into the chapel, which looks out toward the apostle figures, and through the representative rooms. It ends in the Romanesque and Gothic basement. The extra fee is CZK 150 per person.
Cellars under the hall โRoute B: underground only
The shorter route covers the basement alone. The extra fee is CZK 100 per person. If the cellars are the reason you are going, this is the cheaper way in.
Private hall guide
A private service for your own group is a separate booking category. The service costs CZK 3,000 in 2026, and admission comes on top. It is a group price. Do not divide it by the number of people and expect a per-person ticket.
Dates are fixed and each departure has its own language. Do not count on an English or German departure at a particular hour. Check the timetable for your day. For a rough budget, an adult at the desk pays CZK 350 for the basic ticket, so route A comes to CZK 500 and route B to CZK 450, both without the lift.
Tour types compared
Hall routes are part of the building visit. The walks are separate products from other operators.
| Tour | What it covers | Cost | Booking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hall route A | Chapel, state rooms, Romanesque and Gothic basement | CZK 150 per person plus basic ticket | Interior fee on the day, on site |
| Hall route B | Basement only | CZK 100 per person plus basic ticket | Interior fee on the day, on site |
| Private hall guide | The hall with a guide for your group | CZK 3,000 per service plus admission | Reserve ahead as a group |
| Old Town cellar walk | Medieval cellars and passages, plus a dungeon exhibition | Set by the company | Check dates and price for your day |
| Legend walk | Costumed guide with a lantern, Old Town and Jewish Quarter | Set by the company | Check dates and price for your day |
For most first-time visitors, the best plan is simple. Watch the clock from the square, buy the basic ticket for the tower and add route A if the chapel and basement interest you. Choose a cellar or legend walk if you would rather spend an evening in the streets than inside the building.
Walks that are not run by the hall
Different organisers, different routes, different entrances.
Cellar walk
This walk goes through Old Town cellars and corridors and a dungeon exhibition. It is its own product. It is not the hall route, and you should not assume it enters the same rooms.
Legend walk
A costumed guide leads with a lantern through the Old Town and the Jewish Quarter and tells ghost and revenge stories. The stories are legends and the staging is theatre. None of it is an archaeological find.

Before you book
Small points that decide whether a tour fits your day.
What the price covers
The basic ticket and the interior fee are separate. An online skip-the-line ticket is valid for the tower only, so it does not replace the interior fee.
Ticket prices โAccess
The tower has lifts. The historic rooms and the basement are not barrier-free. If you use a wheelchair, ask the operator before you plan a hall route.
Children
Visitors under 15 enter with an adult. The adult companion must be 18 or over.
Timing
The apostles move on the hour from 08:00 to 23:00. A tour that ends just before the hour lets you watch the show afterwards.

Prague Astronomical Clock tours: frequently asked questions
Do I need a ticket to see the clock?
No. The clock is on the south side of the Old Town Hall tower, on a public square, so you can watch the apostles from outside. A ticket is for the tower, the Knights' Hall and the guided interiors.
Is a guided tour included in the basic ticket?
No. The basic ticket covers the tower and the Knights' Hall. The historic interiors are visited with a guide and an extra fee of CZK 150 for route A or CZK 100 for route B, per person.
Can I buy the interior fee online?
The interior fee is sold on the day of your visit, on site. Organised groups have to reserve ahead. Check the current rules for your date.
Is the underground walk the same as the hall's basement route?
No. The hall's basement is visited on the hall routes. The cellar walk is a separate product from another operator, with its own meeting point and ticket.
Are tours available in German?
Departures are tied to a timetable and a language. Check the schedule for your day instead of assuming a German tour at a fixed hour.
Is this the official website of the Old Town Hall?
No. This is an independent guide. It is not the official website of the city, of the tourist board or of the Old Town Hall, and it is not connected to any tour company.
